1, Parklet location tips
Selecting a Parklet position that will have enough passing pedestrians and cyclists is really important to ensure that it is well used and appreciated by as many people as possible.
Think about peak times of use, if it is on the main thoroughfare to and from a school or local to offices it will get good consistent morning lunchtime and end of day use. The location along the street should be well lit at night with street lamps and on the sunny side of the street during the day. Avoid large overhanging trees. Positioning the Parklet opposite existing eateries where there are already pavement tables would not be advised. Choose a parking space that has other car parking spaces at each end to make it easy to deliver and style the Parklet in it's final position. |
Although this Parklet fits within a roadside car parking space it can also be taken of road and placed in a shopping centre or playground.

2, Parklet Theme Ideas |
Choose a theme!
You can do almost anything to make the Parklet your own so long as it is temporary and can be removed or renovated for it's next theme. Plants can be used to add specific colour but think about who will add water to the special storage tanks in the planters! Varying textures from astroturf, timber, leaves and steel components make a durable street suitable Parklet. The Parklet planters and seats are all able to be reconfigured to change the space within. Working on a developed grid system there are hundreds of different configurations as show below: |
